Best journaling app

Worth the money. Best journaling app, hands down.

Very convenient!

I love how easy this is for me to use! I can keep track of all my activities easily now!!

Theyve thought of everything!

Fabulous all inclusive journal. Capture thoughts at home or details on the go with ease. Sets up simply and quickly to add details like location, weather, time, and one photo a day. (Im not a techy person and Im figuring it out quite easily). I wish it wasnt so expensive to add more photos, but as it is, it makes managing my old paper journals and scrapbooks obsolete. Even one picture a day makes a better record than Ive had overall before without hours of expensive time consuming scrap booking. Im loving it even using it from my phone , but I cant wait to add it on to my iPad once I upgrade to one with the newer operating system. That is my journal of choice. Excellent journal app!

I love day one but classic still my fav

Update: Over a year and still no end to end encryption. The new features are great, but this is my journal were talking about. They need to bring back iCloud sync if they cant do it right. Update: 8/3 STILL NO ENCRYPTION

Easy to use for tracking

I use this to keep track of repairs, events, new purchases. With the camera feature I can include a pic of invoices. Easy to look up invoices and dates when not at home.

Handwriting Support - one month update.

Would love to have the ability to have a handwritten option. Month into app, used it in vacation. Worked well but would like the ability to edit the pictures in the app. Would really like to see the ability to use the apple pen/pencil to write in the app. Would make using the app more "spontaneous" (for me anyway) Thank you.

Nice but expensive

The app is nice, but has many functions I dont use. Its expensive but at least I know it will be in apple eco system for awhile

Subscription model for my own data?

So Ive been using the app for 2 years and having it sync across my devices. Now I have to pay for that privilege? Shame on you!

My favorite app

This is my favorite app. It makes it easy to keep a journal on all your devices.

Love it!

I like how you can set it to track your activities. Im very bad about not journaling regularly. So I can go through the dates and see where I was along with any pictures I took and easily add the entries. Very easy to add tags and lots of extra info to each entry. Things like temperature and location are automatically added if you set it up.

Good Bye DayOne, Hello Ulysses

Was happy to pay for updates and new features should they be useful and productive. But this is the most expensive subscription service Ive come across for a single, simple app. First came DayOne "Classic” which was superseded by DayOne 2. I bit and paid again, but DayOne 2 couldnt publish the same as DayOne "Classic". Nor could the two apps talk to each other. Now theyre dropping synchonization features and asking for annual subscriptions? Really? Apple has not be able to dissmiss a recent lawsuit where it has sold and later removed features from early iOS software regarding FaceTime features on older devices. Perhaps a class action is also needed here. Horrible foresight from the developer and too many changes to your modus operandi. Hello Ulysses’ ...

Great app, but new subscription model is pricey and not sure its worth it.

Ive been using Day One since it was a purchased app going back to 2011 or so. I purchased the last 2 versions and enjoyed all the new features like IFTTT and Instagram integration. The new annual subscription is pricey and Im on it since I have over 6 years of entries in my journal. However, Im not sure if Ill continue after one year and just move to another app that costs $5 like the old model that Day One used to follow.

Done

I purchased this app for $5 a couple of years ago, deleted it when I was asked to pay $5 more for it which I didnt do. Decided to check into it today to find Im expected to subscribe now to use an app I paid for which is course I wont do. There are several better options for me.

Great app

Has everything youd need. Just get it. Its worth it

Changing over to subscription after paying for this app!

I love this app and have had so many of my friends to purchase it from my raving reviews. But changing to subscription based plans and not "grandfathering" in people who have already purchased the app is pretty lame in my opinion.

My favorite app!

Ive been using this app for over a year now and I cant say enough great things about it. It has helped me rekindle my love for journaling and writing! I love being able to have different journals, one for day to day things, a dream journal, even a random thoughts journal! Its great! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a place to easily store their day to day happenings. The activity feed is fantastic and helps me remember what happened during the day to help guide my journal entries. I printed out my journals from last year through the app and I LOVE how they turned out. Its a must have app. Worth every penny.

Bought the day one classic app, robbed

Probably one of my first legit reviews. do not purchase this app. So I bought this app as Day one classic, i sign in to start a log and all of a sudden I login and all my entries are gone. and now sync is in grey next to a bold red "disabled" upgrade to premium. You guys sure did lock in your fanbase alright, but I am just going to export my data and find a service that wont leech off ther customers when theirs notebooks for a 1$ and more realistic apps that arent behind some subsacription paywall. #greedy

Incredibly Frustrating...

Day one is fine for writing text but when it comes to importing photos its incredibly frustrating... ever since subscription model changed the app does not respond to "done" when Im finished selecting photos. It blows up and Ive lost my text... all my inspiration, too. I regret having purchased it as a premium subscription.

Great, but could be amazing!

Ive used day one for over 1 year. I also chose to pay for premium about a month ago. I like it, especially the ability to tag, and some of the more automated features. But, a few other additions would make this amazing! Ability to handwrite entries and add drawings or hand notations wherever we like, mixed in with the text fields if we so chose. Have ocr ability of the hand notes to make them "searchable". I really prefer my own handwriting sometimes. "Notability" works pretty well for that but its more for "notes" not journals. I also would LOVE to see Day One add a record feature like Notability, and even connect our drawings or doodles w our voice. Abilty to add video, and allow us to add notations, similar to how Notability works for voice recording. But id love to have videos of my family or me, then add various edits to pop up at different intervals as the video plays! Because we often dont recall the background situation that is related to a family video, or we can point out what so and so is thinking or doing at different video clips. When im 75-95, id love to have something special like that to look back upon, then star my favorites, add more comments, and pass down to my children. Allow us the ability to create a new kind of journal: a trend tracking journal. Things like mood, migraine, exercise, meditation, sleep, etc which could give us a trend chart kind of thing if we desired. Further, we could see what types of influence they may have on our life events or other activities logged in our journals (or dairies), or vice versa. Id also like to see an automated report including dates and times (through IFT maybe even though it hardly works w any consistency) in regards to the specific: Youtube videos watched (and how long), Kindle or ibooks read, Audible Audio books, Podcasts or Soundclouds, itunes music / Pandora stations listened to Netflix, etc...... All with actual links to them (esp the youtube videos) whenever possible. To ME, especially with a background in science, itd be extremely interesting to see how these things influence our lives as well!!! What we watch, read, listen to also is probably the main thing that gives us a window into who the individual is personality, and interest wise! And with "automated" reports, they are just there...we can chose to use it, or not....but dont need to make any conscious effort to add them to our journals (last thing we need is one more "to do").

So long

I dont do a lot of journaling, but really liked this app for capturing notes and information. I purchased the iOS and Mac versions. But the removal of a sync option leaves this product useless for me. Ill go back to Evernote or another similar app. There are several options.
