Day One Journal: Private Diary App Reviews

I need to learn more of the apps features! For example, the ability to add photos to existing entries, or to have additional Journals for different needs, wants, and/or ideas. Its just a few of the things Id like to learn. However, its a pleasure to have an iPad Journal. Thanks for a great application!

Even keeps track of where I was although I have not yet figured out how to go into that part of the application but its wonderful wait freaking cool

I dont think developers understand what apps are appropriate to have as subscription apps and which ones are not. If this was a business app to help make you more money then I think that itd be appropriate to have a subscription but with this being a personal use app then it should be pay per feature. With this app its like theyll hijack ? your life. REALIZE if you start using this app youll have all your memories in it and when these guys start making changes to the app, like they have in the past, they wont take care of you. Its like general Zod standing on top of all those skulls in front of Superman talking about building a new world ? (If youve seen "Man of Steel" youll understand). Its apart of their BRAND. Thats why you see so many upset subscribers and classic users. They have thrown people under the bus before I just dont know if theyll see you as a new user much differently from those in the past. Dont get me wrong, I love this app thats why it bothers me so much. Ive put my life into this and now I have to continue as I have by subscribe when DayOne hasnt shown that they even cared about my original purchase. People are happy to pay for features and top dollar for great apps but not subscriptions above $1 unless the app helps them make money. This app should be $30 or $40 for iOS, $50-$99 for Mac and each feature could be an additional $9.99. Thatd be super pricy but I would be happy to pay it. For an app like this as a subscription service should be no more than an under the radar $0.99. With that you could even add a "pay per feature" at $9.99 each on top of the subscription and people would be fine with it. I originally bought the app, still have it and wanted the desktop app for $30 but soon after purchasing you guys made DayOne 2, stopped syncing and now I see got rid of the original app. You see it time and time again in the reviews people that sound like me. You might think you cant make everyone happy or give up the few to gain the rest but it will forever be apart of your BRAND that you dont care about little guy and forget that they are people that helped you to get where you are today like a big corporation. I know its hard to have an app business without a subscription these days but you could be making so much more.

Love the design and all the updates that have happened over the years. I only wish I could have this in a web access. At times the small screen of my phone can get cumbersome. Still 5 stars with the hope of web and app access both syncing.

I dont know what the deal is with this app these days but its freezes almost every other time when I try to save it. I dont lose any changes, but I have to close out of the app and the restart it. Not a huge deal because the app is still amazing, however, its quite a pain in the arse. Why o why cant this be fixed asap.

I was a Day One Journal user, then a new version came out and I lost everything. Dont rely on this app! You will simply waste your time and regret it later.

I have used this app for a long time. It is so easy to use and keeps all my thoughts and memories together. Love the different journals. Love the syncing with the desktop app. All the data it gathers. Just loving it. Well worth the money. Thx for making this amazing app!

Great app that I use almost on a daily basis, super useful because it allows you to add photos, automatically tracks locations and weather and is very easy and simple to use. Will keep using it forever.

Now in my 4th year with Day One I like having a dedicated journaling app that replicates on my Mac, iPhone and iPad that enables me to differentiate amongst gratitude, spiritual journey and routine entries i.e., journals with different purposes. Day One makes it possible for me to create and review entries wherever and when ever is most convenient for me at the time. I make most entries on my iPad and often review them on my iPhone. More serious journaling is done on my Mac keyboard. Being able to incorporate photographs and having entries automatically geographically and weather aware are nice features. Its great within the newest version to be reminded of and easily check earlier entries on the same date in prior years. Lifes progress becomes visible. I still want the ability to underline book titles, a suggested but yet to be perfected formatting capability. Im sure it will come. Jared

Ive been patient with the developers for over a year now and unfortunately will leave this review with one star. Ive been using Day once they the app hit the App Store. I have it on all my devices iPad, iPhone and MacBooks and Macs. I am also a year paid subscribing customer. Last few months have been painstakingly horrible with this app. It constantly crashes. Then it crashes my iPhone 6 Plus. Usually when I try to add more than 10 pictures at a time to my journal entry. Then theres a bug that my pictures will not show up. They are instead displayed by a square thumbnail icon. I have been back and forth with all the tech support personnel and they still say they can not replicate the issue therefore can not fix it. This is unreal. When you decide to charge a yearly paid subscription now to your already paid app, you should fix these issues asap. You guys should seriously reconsider your priorities. This is unacceptable.

Love this app. Great way to keep track of events that happen and then reminisce upon later in the future.

I love this app, it allows me to remember all the things I might not recall otherwise. I journal all the notable events in my daughters life and anything else life throws at us. It reminds me of notable events from previous years. It also allows for weather, location and photos to be attached to entries. And it allows syncing amongst devices.

This app is great but I am giving it 3 stars because I feel a major functionality is missing. It lacks the ability to create a template for Journal entries. I use this app to journal my time on sites for work and also equipment Inspections. I need the ability to create a template that prompts the critical info I need to record for each of these as well as other entries.

If I tag red white and blue and also short medium tall then I can bring up all entries with a blue tag or all entries with a tall tag But If I search blue and tall in order to bring all entries that have BOTH tags it fails. Instead it gives me all blue entries including those that also have short and medium tags. I would like to have an option so that multiple tag selections are AND instead of OR. Thank you

The app is very cool but 38€ for new users? I think its too much even if its a nice app....then I like better the iCloud sync of the previous version, storing my data in my cloud sounded more private
