Great for baby memories

I love this app. Have been using it like a baby album in my pocket to record all the firsts, funny quotes, and events of my daughters life. Its so fun and convenient!

Great

I love my everyday handwritten journal, but this is great to use also. I have the ability to write in both the only difference is that I can just throw on talk to type and it takes down all my notes that are coming straight from my head immediately. Love it

Much better than using a word processor app

I used to use Pages on the desktop. Day One is designed for journaling and it shows. Easily include pictures, location, tags, etc. Way better than using Pages or Word for journaling.

Great Place to record Thoughts

This app is a great surprise. Ive been a fan of digital journals and this one doesnt leave anything behind. I LOVE that if I close the app and go on to something else. It automatically saves what I was working on. I love adding photos and lists and other things that I need to put down.

Off to a great start. Ill still be using Day One!

Good news: Sync seems to be accurate even when mashing and importing everything together from three different devices. Im not to disappointed in losing iCloud sync as along as they truly use a private key to encrypt everything before it gets to the server. The only way then for data to be decrypted is to have the user password. It would be good to explain this in "laymens" terms with even a video on how data is secured. Journal data is by far the most personal content, even more personal than email. Need for improvement: Mass delete tags. I have tags from 2014 I no longer want to use. Better explanation of security. See above.

Top in its class

Download it and thank me later.

From paper to digital

Ive been writing physical journals in nice leather bound notebooks for years. I happened to search for digital journals soon after this latest update to Day One. I remember not being interested in the original version, but now I have purchased it for iOS and Mac because I have fell in love. The syncing is flawless. The app is beautiful on iOS and Mac. The features are perfect. I love that I can export everything in seconds, and share it if I wanted to. The timeline, the editor, adding pictures, editing entries, its all wonderful. I had been slacking in journal writing lately because I simply didnt have my journal with me at all times, and often it was inconvenient and burdensome to grab a pen and journal and write at odd moments in the day. I figured, Ive always got my phone on me, so Ill give the new version of DayOne a try, and now I can say I will probably never go back to physical journaling. Yes, its sad and there is so much I will miss about it. But now with this update and features, it has everything I required to make the switch. Now, the benefits of a digital journal out weight the cons. Thank you DayOne. I hope your business lasts forever. Never drop your integrity, or lower your standards for evil. Be good, keep my trust, and you will have had yourself a lifetime customer.

Indispensible

There is no better journalizing app than DayOne. The updates to saved locations are excellent. I was able to search and find all the entries that pegged my home as somewhere within a two block radius of where it actually is and change hundreds of entries to my saved Home locale in an instant.

Thanks

I enjoy the app but I feel like its missing something. Ill add it when I figure it out. Also the bottom controls are very annoying to work with, strictly from a visual tension and anxiety. The bar is too thin and the buttons too small, yet I tap the right ones everytime.

I LOVE this app! Download & use it.

You will love it, too! Buy it. USE it. You will thank yourself later for having downloaded it.

No Dropbox sync

Was so excited about this until I found out it didnt have support for non-proprietary sync options. Guess Im sticking with the old version

Best Journaling App

I really like this app. Like the new revision and the customer service!

Good app - questionable upgrade

I have the Day One which is now known as "classic." I dont terribly mind when app developers re-release a minor feature update as a brand new app to milk a few more bucks from it. Hey, I like to eat too. This seemed kind of early, and other than the ability to include more than one photo per log entry, the features introduced arent exactly revolutionary. Setting location from photo metadata seems now possible again (early v2 releases seemed to have lost it) during initial photo import, but not retroactively.

Inexcusable loss of functionality...

Private syncing via third party services worked, but now v2 sends the unencrypted contents to Day Ones servers? No way. Even if Day One claims to support end to end encryption, how do you trust that assertion and their implementation? If you have private thoughts that you consider sensitive, this is not the journaling app for you. If youre reporting the weather or drafting a facebook status update I suppose this would work.

Youve got to be kidding

Create an account so I can share my private data with your sync service? No thanks, I pay and trust Apple and Dropbox with that. Ill gladly update the review when they make the app usable again.

Day One Sync is better than iCloud/Dropbox anyways

I started using Day One Sync when it was introduced in Day One Classic. Ive never regretted that decision. Its way faster than anything iCloud or Dropbox could provide. Maybe because the developers of Day One built the Sync service specifically to handle the journal data. I love it! I didnt know how the devs would make my most-used app better, so Ive been blown away with Day One 2. Everything has been improved upon. Im gonna stop typing so you can go download Day One 2. You wont regret it.

My Favorite App, Slightly Downgraded by Update

Please add autocompletion to tags!!! First of all, thank you for creating such a beautiful and wonderful app. I have been a user since 2012 and I love reminiscing on old memories as well as spending Time capture new memories. The major issues with this upgrade are: the lack of tag autocompletion & being able to tap on a tag in an entry text to see others, the over-crowded interface, and the lack of today widget similar to the old one. Also I love the new features that are implemented, however some of them could be better organized such as the multiple pictures perhaps in a grid instead of just stacked. I hope in future releases these issues are further fine-tuned in the meantime Ill probably stick to the classic version.

Security concerns make sync useless

No encryption. Add private key encryption, get 4 stars. Add iCloud back and get an additional star. Im not holding my breath.

Elegant. Simple.

I now record an entry each day. I wasnt doing that as much as I should with paper and pen. I also record all of my notes for my podcast using Day One. It has great formatting and looks great.

Add record voice!

Good app. Sometimes I dont want to journaling I need to record my voice. Please add record voice in next updates. Thanks
